Whats the difference between washing clothes in cold and hot water?

Whats the difference between washing your clothes in cold water and washing them in hot waterWhats the difference between washing clothes in cold and hot water?
I only get cold water in my machine and find that I sometimes need to pretreat underarm deodorant smells and use the double rinse option.

With clothes I use the double rinse option because the clothes don't smell really clean, but it could be because I have soft water. With towels and sheets I just use one rinse.

My preference was always hot water, but this seems to work out okay and is saving money on the electric. You should always rinse with cold anyway as it supposedly gets the soap out better.

Hot water is bad for coloreds, they fade. It can also shrink clothes. Cold water works fine, just don't over-stuff the washer. The clothes need plenty of room to agitate. Liquid detergent, any brand, works.Whats the difference between washing clothes in cold and hot water?
Hot water will kill germs and help get rid of odors in towels and other laundry. Some things will shrink or fade in hot water, so check the labels before washing.
Hot water will shrink clothes ... and sometimes dull colors. However hot water will also kill germs.
some clothes due to the material ---shrink with cold water.

Hot water could dull the color.
