Can you kill the fleas in bed linens by washing them in hot water and drying them on hot?

The dog passed away 5 months ago but the fleas keep coming back. How do I finally get rid of them? Can you kill the fleas in bed linens by washing them in hot water and drying them on hot?
Use Borax in the water and wash in hot. That should work. You can find Borax on the detergent isle in the store.

You may need to treat the matress for fleas also. Can you kill the fleas in bed linens by washing them in hot water and drying them on hot?
There is a spray by Bengal (wal-mart) that I used when I had dogs in the house. I sprayed all my furniture and floors with it. It kills every stage of the flea and I never saw another on again.
Soak the bed linen in the washer, low level, hot water and about 4 cups of salt. Swish it around every so often. Soak overnight. Finish the washer's cycle, then wash in hot water again with your usual detergent. This will kill them off without a doubt. We moved into a condo about 10 yrs ago and a Terminex guy told us to pour salt on our carpets to get rid of the fleas because my puppy at the time had allergies to pesticides and carpet cleaners. 24 hours later we vacuumed up the salt, steam cleaned the carpets with vinegar and water, and never saw another flea. (The vinegar got rid of the odor from the previous owner's cat)
flea eggs can live for years dormant in wood floor cracks or carpeted corners.

Honey the ONLY way to get rid of fleas is with BOMBS found at GOOD pet stores.

Please read and follow directions carefully, leave the house for 24 hours also, especially if you have children.

Even if you have the money to hire some one to do the job! NO MATTER what they say!!! Leave the house for 24 hours please. I Totally almost died, went into aniflectic shock from the Organophosphates in the pesticides they use to REALLY kill fleas!!!

It works, 24 hour re entry period is really safe! before that is not safe.

So the linens will be clean for a few days, but the eggs in the carpets or wood floor cracks will continue to hatch for a very long time to come with out extra help!
Flea eggs can lie dormant for quite a while. The entire house needs to be treated. Yes, bedding can be washed and dried, but you also need to spray the house with flea spray that kills both adults and larvae...carpets, upholstery, everything. Vacuum really well when you are finished.
If the problem pursists, and the fleas continue to show up on your linens as well throughout the rest of your house, you should probably purchase a flea bomb which will kill fleas in a certain radius of the actually ';bomb.'; They sell these at major department stores like Walmart and Target and they're pretty inexpensive. Vaccum at least twice a day and get rid of the bag, or empty the container and filter after each sweep.

ps: With the flea bombs you will have to get out of the house for at least 24 hours like Bugsie said, including any pets since it can be irritating.

Hope this helps!!
