Whats more likely to cause cotton to shrink, washing in hot or cold water?

Or is it how its dried and matters not what temp the water is.Whats more likely to cause cotton to shrink, washing in hot or cold water?
Drying shrinks it.Whats more likely to cause cotton to shrink, washing in hot or cold water?
If water temperature could shrink a fabric, it would be hot. But yes, drying is the usual culprit, although cotton doesn't shrink too often (jeans tend to 'unshrink' once you force them on again). These days, I would wash in warm/warm or warm/cold or cold/cold always. If you're drying at home, and you've run into trouble, try drying on permanent press setting which is cooler. If you're drying at a laundromat or anywhere commercial, those machines can get very hot and the perm press setting is always a better choice.
Washing it in HOT water then Drying it ...Air dry it if possible and wash it in cold water
Heat causes it to shrink- so be careful in the wash and in the dryer.
Washing in hot then putting it in the drier.
Hot every time!
wash in hot and then put in to dryer to make something shrink
