I have been dying to know the answer!! Please respond with scientific insight!What is the science behind washing darker laundry with cold water, and lighter laundry with hot/warm water?
Hotter water causes the reactions to go faster. Remember the heavier the colour, the more it's likely to come off. That means that dark clothing in hot water will make the dye come off and make all your other shirts pink!
