Is it possable to wash a keyboard in warm water?

AS my one has got so dirty.

NO. Take all the keys off with a blunt knive or a teaspoon handle. Then over a large tea towel, turn the keyboard upside down, and then give it a few good sharp taps, like you are patting someone on the back who is coughing.





You will be amazed at home much rubbish comes out. Then with a soft paintbrush brush any remaining stuff out. Then wipe all your keys down with a hot damp cloth, that is barely wet.





Before you do this, I would either take a picture of your keyboard, or print one off the internet. You will need this to put it all back together again!Is it possable to wash a keyboard in warm water?
Some keyboards are water resistant, to pretect from office coffee or tea spills. Even corn chips. Dont forget electrocution.

Take it down to the sea and wash it in there - salt water will do wonders for the electrical components in the keyboard!!

Yes, I washed mine in soapy water,but unfortunately it hasn`t worked since.


Although I think that may have been due to the tumble dryer.

id just turn off and use an old toothbrush dipped in water/cleaner then allow to dry

Try getting a spongy thing, some washing up liquid, water, squeeze it until dryish but has some foam on it, then wipe the keyboard gently holding it upside down so that the keys are facing the floor, when done, dry the keys off with kitchen roll %26amp; wait a day or 2 incase any water got through, as if it did, it can cause a short, ruining your keyboard.
You CAN, but it's a bit of a risk. I'd just tip it upside down %26amp; tap it to dislodge all the crumbs, tobacco ash, dandruff etc. that's stuck in there, then wipe it with some form of cleaner, some people swear by those impregnated wipes but I just use a barely moist cloth.





I actually put some pensioned-off keyboards in the dishwasher once, on the basis of nothing to lose, and once they'd drained down %26amp; had a week in the airing cupboard every one of them worked! It's a hell of a gamble though.
Yes u can wash , but after washing give the keyboard to child for playing !!!!

Clean cloth with small amount of cleaning solution and brush not a paintbrush it's ok to use a toothbrush.

You can take the keyboard apart GENTLY and use a gentle tissue and rubbing alcohol to clean it out, let it dry before putting it back together.
You can buy a new keyboard, for under $10 at Wal-Mart, or Biglots. You can also get a really nice one at newegg.com, for $7, or so. You'll need to get a new one, after you put water in your old one! http://www.investmental.com
Hi, I'm a qualified tech support engineer. You CAN wash it in CLEAR water but I -REALLY- don't advise it as like the other guy said you have to get rid of EVERY trace of that water and that's assuming the water doesn't get inside any leds if they're cracked/ water drops don't get in the insides, etc.





Best to open the keyboard by undoing all the screws and take out the keys and circuits (Usually pretty easy, 1 clear film and a circuit board, if in doubt write down the order of the keys or open upside down (so the keys don't fall out and jumble up)) just be careful not to rip the clear film and or disconnect any wiring.


Put the innards somewhere safe and then wash the keys individually along with the case and you'll be fine, just make sure you dry everything well.





And point of note to the guy about the coke. coke EATS (literally) keyboards, put a dirty coin in coke and watch the dirt get eaten away. That's what coke does to the electrical bits of keyboards! so if you ever spill any, clean it VERY quickly!
Either wipe it with a soft damp cloth or else buy a new keyboard. Aside from the mouse, a keyboard is one of the cheapest parts of the computer. I am about to do the same because my letters ';n'; and ';o'; have rubbed off and are now barely visible
Yes you can, but it probably won't be much use afterwards. Use a just damp cloth or a wet wipe with the pc turned off
Totally! I regularly pop mine into the dishwasher. Ensure you remove ALL electrical and electronic components (obviously) and go for it!!
You can but then you will have to leave it to dry in the sun or in a warm place.


My little brother put the TV remote in water so i let it dry and it work fine.
1 year ago i spread coke all over my laptop keyboard and then i washed it in water - it doesn't even work 1 year later correctly.

Let it dry fully before you use it again as well.





Anyone who says you can't hasn't got a clue what they are on about. It's perfectly ok as long as no residue is left on the electronics - hence no soap should be used.





Water and electricity should never be mixed so make sure the thing isn't plugged in to anything and likewise make sure it has dried completely before you plug it back in. Leave it hanging for 24 to ensure it is dry.
