You have a ghost in your house. My washing maching fills up with water when its not in use.?
sorry but the automatic shut off valve in the machine is shot or the control knob is shot.and will have to be replaced. either one can be a costly repair. until you get it fixed turn off the water supply valves to the unit.food for thought before you have it fixed find out a ball park cost for the repair.might want to get a new machine.good luck.
The electric (solenoid) valve that controls water flow into your washer is not closing completely.

It may have some dirt lodged in the valve seat. Try cycling the machine on and off quickly a few times.

The valve may just be worn out. An appliance parts shop will have a replacment. They are not expensive. If you or someone you know is handy with a screwdriver, replacing it will only take a few minutes. You can get to it by removing the washer's back cover.
